Sujeet Kumar, Co-Founder & CEO
Prior to Zenlabs, he served as CTO of Envia Systems, where he led his team to develop the world’s first 400 Wh/kg LIB with a silicon anode. Sujeet also served as Director of Technology at Nanoexa developing power tool batteries. Prior to this, he worked as a senior scientist for Greatbatch, leading the development and scale-up of nano-crystalline silver vanadium oxide cathode materials. Sujeet also served as a principal scientist at Nanogram Devices Corporation, where he developed battery components used in implantable medical devices, and as a project manager at Nanogram Corp where he led several energy storage projects. In 2009, Dr. Kumar won an R & D 100 award for his work on high-energy LIBs. Sujeet has a Ph.D. in Materials Science from the University of Rochester and is the inventor of over 60 patents.
Herman Lopez, Co-Founder & CTO
Herman is a technical leader with over 20 years of experience developing advanced materials, processes and devices for the LIB, semiconductor, telecommunication and sensor industry. He has managed numerous government and customer programs working with industry, academia and National Laboratories. He previously served in multiple technical and management positions at Envia Systems, Intel Corporation and NeoPhotonics Corporation. Herman received his Ph.D. in Materials Science from the University of Rochester, a B.S. in Chemistry from UCSD, and holds over 40 US issued patents.
Michael Sinkula, Co-Founder & CBO
Prior to Zenlabs, Michael was the Director of Business Development at Envia Systems and earlier with Nanoexa, where he successfully negotiated development and licensing contracts for lithium battery technology and products. Prior to that, Michael founded Molecular ID Systems, a company that developed portable bacterial diagnostic devices. He has also held several finance positions at Hewlett Packard. Michael earned a B.S. in Finance from Santa Clara University, a M.Sc. in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Newcastle, and a MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
Alex Lee, COO
Prior to Zenlabs, Alex served as the CEO of Jannarelly Automotive (ultra-light sports cars), CEO of Singer Vehicle Design (hypercars), MD of Al Yousuf Capital ($100+ million cleantech portfolio), CEO of Phoenix Motorcars (EV trucks), CEO of Altair Nanotechnologies (LTO batteries and grid-scale ESS), and VP of Strategic Planning of Rapiscan Systems (aviation and homeland security). Alex earned his A.B in Political Science at Brown University and his J.D. from the University of California, King Hall School of Law.
